Sports Programmes

Don’t underestimate the importance of sport. Sports facilities for rural children are difficult to come by and yet sport teaches team work, contributes to good health, and unites the family and the community.

Children love playing a game of football, rugby or netball and working hard with their teammates whilst doing something fun. A team’s performance is also a valuable and important learning and development tool.

Being a valued member of a team is a huge confidence boost for a child that might have no other opportunity in his/her daily life to feel a sense of self-worth. Sport makes children dream about becoming a star, a David Beckham or a Brian Habana. These dreams are very important as they encourage ambition - something very much needed in rural South Africa today.

We aim to expand the sports facilities available at our centres. This is difficult to do as sports fields and courts are costly but we will continue to work hard to expand our activities and provide them.
