Where little children get food - often their only meal of the day - stimulation, love and care.
At Help the Rural Child we believe passionately that every child needs to be given a chance to grow and blossom into a rounded, happy and contributing individual. However, we also know that the world does not work like that and that many millions of children go to bed hungry, live in terrible poverty and have little if any chance of living a life in which they will have any meaningful say about their future. We are committed to doing whatever we can to enable them to get that first little foot on the ladder out of poverty through early learning. Our Nursery Scheme now starts with the babies - especially those who are at risk - and as the babies grow we take them through into our pre-school programme. It is generally accepted that children who attend a pre-school will do better at school than those children that do not have that option. Here they will get stimulation, love, creative play opportunities, specialist help and basic care, including food, and clothing – something that they cannot always take for granted. So we want to put as many children as we can through our early learning and care facilities. Our programme has the added benefit of giving very hard pressed and poor mothers a break but it is the education of the child that is our core target. Every child attending the pre-school gets a cooked meal - possibly and almost certainly their only meal of the day. |
