At last a charity that makes good business sense!
Help the Rural Child is an established Not for Profit Organisation (NPO). We set up charity shops that raise money to fund youth centres which work with vulnerable rural children and their families. To really make an impact on rural poverty, we need to increase the number of shops that we run.
It is so simple:
We are always looking for donors to help us rent premises and set up a charity shop. We already have 8 successful shops in the Western Cape - 2 in Mowbray, 1 in Wynberg, 2 in Retreat, 1 in Fish Hoek and 2 in Sea Point.
The public are then invited to donate books, clothing and bric-a-brac which we sell from our shops. Each shop, therefore, provides a service to the surrounding community by taking unwanted goods, cleaning them and then selling them on at affordable prices.
We have a good track record and experience at managing shops of this kind. One of the trustees at Help the Rural Child, Howard Stirrup, was Director of Trading at Help the Aged in the UK which opened 400 charity shops from 1986 to 2006. This gives us unrivalled management experience in charity shop trading. This tried and tested experience guarantees that any financial help you give towards the cost of opening a new shop will be maximised and not a cent will be wasted.
Let us come and talk to you, give you a presentation or alternatively send you a fundraising proposal detailing our strategic vision and plan.
