Help the Rural Child is a registered NPO based in Cape Town. We raise funds through our charity shops. These funds are then channelled to our partner, Path Out of Poverty for the building and maintaining of rural youth centres.
The youth centres run a variety of educational, recreational and health programmes that aim to uplift the lives of vulnerable rural children and their families. These programmes include a pre-school, sport activities and parenting workshops. They also provide children with possibly their only food for the day.
We rely on you to help us. You can do this by making a financial contribution or a donation of goods such as clothing, books, bric-a-brac or toys. Alternatively, we are always looking for volunteers to help run our shops by sorting stock or serving customers.
Through the resale of donated goods, we are able to fund rural youth centres. This approach makes our endeavours sustainable. Your help goes a long way to eradicating the poverty that rural children and their communities face.
